Sheesh the weekend just ended and I am about 4 posts behind. Had a SUPER weekend out with Jamie, we both rented lenses in anticipation of Hwy 40 opening, we were looking for Grizzly's. So Friday night, in order to get accustomed to our new weight load we headed over to FCPP, I told Jamie I might be able to find some owls. While waiting for him to show I caught these two Flickers having a dispute. I must have taken a 100 shots of these two.
After walking around a while looking for the first owl family, weopted to wee if we could find the second group. Low and behold, here was momma resting in the sun grabbing a snooze.
It didn't take too long to find the two youngsters. They are getting to look alot like their parents.
While we were jockeying around for shots of the owls we spotted this Wester Wood Pewee
You have to note, that the WWP is a very small bird, nowhere near as large as the owls:)
we managed to get into position for the second owlet. Isn't it amazing how they can swivel their heads around and look at you right over their back.
Well that wrapped up our little "practice excursion", we felt we were ready for Bigger predators. We went home, had a few pints and hit the hay early, the alarm was set for 3:30 a.m.!
