Elk, Mule deer Out to the Ranch 120901

Up earlier than planned and Tim was able to get our a little early so we were on the road by 5:30. Last nights full "blue" moon was terrific. We grabbed a quick glimpse of a GHO finishing up the morning hnnt. Tim spotted a cow moose in "Grey's corner", there was a calf with the cow, but they high tailed it for cover as soon as we were out of the truck. It is nice to know the cow is there, with the rut coming an a couple of weeks, we migh be able to find a bull looking up the cow.
We missed a unique shot as we come up to a field and here was a Coyote standing on top of one of the rolled bales of hay, I had never seen one on a bale previously.
More evidence of the Elk herding up, here is are a couple of shots of a good size grouping.  This 6x6 while pretty impressive will definitely be second fiddle to the monster that has gsathered this group together.
It is not hard to see that the bull on the bottom right is significantly larger than eveyother critter in the field. While he may not have the larget set of antlers or themost points he is well ahead in "mass"!
On the ride out we saw a GGO, now you have to understnd that we had been out there 5 or 6 times hunting for them, and had given up finding any. Ain't that the way? If you want to find something--Stop looking!  We spent about 20 minutes with a small bachelor herd of Muley's, this was the best looking fellow.
We ran into a mob (14)of Magpies, Redtails, and a nicce bachelor herd of Whitetails but they were a mile off, so no decent photo's.
We explored a new road for a bit and it looks very promising for later in the year.
Out looking for Great Grey's for my girl tomorrow.
