Sora, Hummingbirds, Towhee. Woodpecker

Our Sunday morning walk for June 10th was looking pretty dismal, it had rained most the night and was calling for rain all day. On top of that we had a 40 kph blowing with gusts of even higher I am certain, so we headed out @7:38 with not much optimism. We were greeted by American Goldfinch and some Goldeneye's,and lots of Robins out and about, our first real capture of the day was this Eastern Phoebe
There were a couple hundred Cliff Swallows, and a Spotted Sandpiper or two. Pine Siskens, Clay Coloured Sparrows and Chickadees were keeping us company, finally we spotted one of our other targets of the day the Callipe Hummingbird.  Light conditions were brutal, so I apologize.
These little fellows are very colourful, but a terrible tiny target in poor light. Our next find for the day was this briefly visiting female Pileated.
I then got my first ever glimpse of a Sora, it was coming to Dan's call, and what a beautiful bird. it has a very unique song, and lives on pond edges and tends to be very secretive.
It was a gret experience climbing through the branches and twigs to find this fellow. For a while it brightened up and we found a Hermit Thrush and a Veery, we also managed a photo of a Tennessee Warbler.
One of our other "target birds" were the Rufous Hummingbirds, they truly look brilliant in the proper light, so this is a very poor representative image.
We finished up the day with a Flicker, 8 Great Blue Herons and a Spotted Towhee that wouldn't let us get anywhere near him.
And I thought that I would leave you with one more shot of the Sora, it seemed to be the only cooperative bird we had all day, and the light was half way decent. And, just look at those feet!
Here is hoping you have a GREAT week. Saturday will be the first Grizz hunting session of the summer, so I am hoping to get something worth posting on the weekend.
