Tim had talked me into "going to see the loons". It was a slow morning but here is a shot of Dad taking off for a morning flight.
There was a cow moose in the area. She was very well hidden in the heavy cover.
We checked out a local slough that we had never been to before, the Blue Damsel' were everywhere!
We headed off to the Frank Lake area for more a look around. We found this little buck with two does.
We had a pretty good look at a couple of Ibi' as they flew passed. probably my best capture yet of one in the air.
Also managed to grab the BCNH in flight. Theyare very difficult birds to get anywhere close to!
Ther were all the usual suspects, RWBB, Kildeer, a couple os Swainsons. We found a group of three Earred Grebes still sitting on their nests. We will likely head back there before too long with the blind and see if we cannot get some good shots. I haven't thrown in a YHBB recently so I thought that I'd let you see this guy.
Why is it everyone loves the young? Here is a Coot chick, you think that this is "cute"?
Here is a female YHBB.
We finished the day off with a brand new bird for both Tim and I, the Western King Bird. The Eastern version do not have the yellow belly.
Well that took us to 2:40 in the afternoon. That is a long time after the 4:00 a.m. start we had. Not a terrible day, we learned several new "spots" and added a new bird. Who knows what tomorrow will bring!
