Egrets and ground squirrels Kalifornia Day 2 part 2 (20130302)

This afternoon, while the girls walked the Seal Beach pier and beach, the guys headed to a water area to see what we could find. I was really happy with the results. We found this Great Egret just a few minutes into our journey.
We also found these Ground Squirrels all around, they seemed to be quite people tolerant.
Here is a head-on shot of one with zero crop.
Up the road a bit we found this a Wimbrel, or is it a Long Billed Curlew? LBC :)
We spotted a female Northern Harrier, a pair of Kestrels, and a Black Phoebe. Then I always thought that Ground Squirrel’s were on or under the ground, so I was surprised to grab this fella on the fence!
While we had Hummers buzzing around this was our first opportunity to grab one. Neil had the camera when he captured this image of a male Anna's.
On the “causeway” we were treated to some more waterfowl, this is a female lesser Scaup Duck.
This is a shot of most of the Snowy Egrets that were in the area.
And here is a single. I love how the fronts of their legs are black, and the backs and their feet are yellow!
Good News/Bad News situation here, we are only part way through our walk and found enough to post, so I will need to continue this "track" on yet another post. Stay Tuned, as we finished up strong on the outing.
